The scorching-hot Golf R Wagon will be available in Australia as a $58,990 special edition. Along side with the Golf R Wagon Wolfsburg Edition, named in honour of Volkswagen’s home city, there will be the $ 56,990 Golf R Wolfsburg Edition hatch.
The Wolfsburg Editions come with black 19-inch Pretoria alloy wheels, black mirror casings, “Carbon Nappa” leather upholstery, heated front seats and Wolfsburg badging.
Other than the cosmetic and equipment upgrades, the Wolfsburg Editions are identical to the regular Golf R mechanically. With the Golf R Wagon getting slightly higher zero to 100km/h time, taking 5.2 seconds rather than the hatch’s 5.0, and fuel economy, 7.2 l/100km against 7.1l/100km due to its increased curb weight.
Volkswagen says the numbers of both special edition hatch and wagon are limited, but more could come if demand outstrips supply.
